1948 INDIAN PAPOOSE
This British built mini bike is a Corgi, re-badged as an Indian Papoose in the U.S. This small fold-up motorcycle was developed from the WWII military Welbike that was made to fit in a container and dropped by parachute. After landing the parachutist would rush over to the nearest para scooter, hide the parachute, unfold the handlebars, pull up the seat post, start the bike and ride off, hoping the noise did not alert the enemy.
Indian is an American brand of motorcycles originally produced from 1948 to 1954 in ..... Italian ex-pilot and engineer Leopoldo Tartarini, owner of Italjet Moto, to manufacture Minarelli-engined 50 cc minibikes under the Indian Papoose
